Review of Ruby Lane
by
Emma Mactaggart from Child Writes
'Still time for some new books for holiday reading! Keep an eye out for RJ Simon's new book, Ruby Lane. I love it that the book opens with a mother commenting on the state of her child’s room, albeit at a crazy hour of the morning! Straight away I am locked into the story, with a sense of understanding there is something very exciting to come, as I already want to spend more time with Ruby. She is vivacious, energetic and incredibly inquisitive. She is fortunate to befriend Pirate as he patiently answers one the tremendous amount of questions she raises, as they travel through strange and wondrous lands, in search of her grandmother.
What more can a reader want than an exhilarating rollick, especially as there truly is something for everyone - fairies, dragons, pirates, grim teachers, talking fish, seahorses, dinosaurs, mermaids and a very, very clever cat!'
