Book Reviews

Book reviews can be really helpful sources of information as well as being insightful and entertaining to read in their own right. Reviews can be especially helpful for parents of fussy readers and avid readers too.
(I know from experience how hard it can be to keep an avid reader in books, and how hard it can be to find enticing offerings for a fussy reader too!)
Most parents I know with children in primary school don't have time to sit down and read through piles of middle grade novels, this is why review sites come in handy!
They are a helpful resource for finding an interesting reads for your child. and reviewers often highlight new books, children's books from smaller publishers and indie authors too that your child's school library or local bookshop might not have on the shelves yet.

My favourite Children's Book Review Sites

I recommend the following sites for parents, homeschoolers, teachers, teacher librarians, child care workers, and anyone else who is looking for high quality information about, and useful reviews of children's books.  Some of these websites also have links to other sites that also offer reviews as well so they're an excellent place to start.

Picture Book Reviews

My Little Story Corner is a website dedicated to picture books  for children. It's a great place to find out about new picture books.
The reviews include photos of the internal illustrations and beautiful activities that are compatible with or designed around each book - this is a really nice bonus for parents and early childhood teachers.

Educational Reviews of
Children's Books

The Abc Jenny website is devoted to promoting the development of literacy skills and it also has some excellent educational book reviews of children's books with educational activities and lesson plans by Educational Consultant and Literacy Specialist - Jenny Graham.
This website is a fantastic resource for parents, teachers and homeschoolers with a focus on reading stages not ages.

Reviews of Australian
Children's Books

Creative Kids Tales is an industry recognised site for emerging and established children's authors and illustrators. It's a handy resource for readers looking to read reviews or discover new authors, illustrators, and their books.
The website also has interviews with Australian authors and illustrators. One of the things I especially like about this site is it features children's book reviews by adults and children.

More about Book Reviews

I've visited hundreds, if not thousands of sites that offer book reviews over the last five years and in doing so I've discovered some interesting things along the way.
Maybe I'll write an article about that too at some stage in the future, but right now I really have to get back to work on finishing some of my existing projects.

Reviews of Books by RJ Simon

If you're looking for reviews of books written and or illustrated by me... well I haven't really collected them all into one place yet so I guess you can go on a little treasure hunt or you could just check the updates section of this site. (I am trying to keep the updates section up to date haha).

Book Reviews by RJ Simon?

I don't write book reviews. I'm not a reviewer. I'll elaborate on that later maybe. For now, I hope you find the sites above useful.
If you're one of the many adults who enjoys reading children's books you might also find the above sites useful and I'll be adding some extra links especially for you once I've collected and organised them a bit better.
In the meantime, and as always, I'd love to hear from you.
