Going Coastal

10/6/2015

My grandmother lives by the seaside. When we went to stay with her, these holidays, we went for walks along the beaches.

I've always liked pandanus trees. I used to like climbing in them when I was a child, but now days I enjoy looking at them more.

They have interesting spiky leaves, some people use them for weaving.

Growing up I spent a lot of time on these beaches. They are very pretty and there is so much to see that it's easy to walk along them beside the sea for many hours.
Some of the beaches are covered in golden sand, some white sand and some are mostly rocks. They are all different, they are all beautiful, and pandanus trees grow near them all.

The beaches with rocks are interesting to explore. There are many rockpools to find, some are big and full of fish, crabs, starfish, jellyfish, sea urchins, seahorses, sea slugs, and sea weed. Some are very small like this one.

If you look at the water in the rock pools on the right angle it reflects the colours in the sky.

The sandy beaches are fun to walk, run and play on.

Some people like to play cricket, football, volley ball, fly kites, or build sandcastles on the sandbeaches.

It's fun to look for 'beach treasures' like rocks, shells, seaweed, seaglass and drift wood.

It's also fun to leave foot prints and write messages in the sand.

Watching afternoon storms roll in with their beautiful big black clouds is exciting.

Although, walking home in the rain can be cold...
