I have a book called 'Spring Flower Fairies' that was given to me when I was little. I like it just as much now as I did then...maybe even more. It was written and illustrated by Cicely Mary Barker. She was born in 1895 and her first fairy book was published in 1923. It was titled 'Flower Fairies of the Spring'.
I guess beautiful words, beautiful art and beautiful books are quite like flowers; they retain their charm for a long time.
I wonder what Cicely Mary Barker, an author born in 1895, would have thought of the official flower fairies website that showcases her illustrations, characters and books today? I think it is very pretty just like her books.
Above is a picture of the Rose fairy . She was featured on the cover of 'Flower Fairies of the Summer' which was written and illustrated by Cicely Mary Barker. Isn't she sweet?
Personal blog by RJ Simon. This is where I post random musings and share photos from strolls around the yard, road trips, and life in the Australian bush.
I used to post updates about my writing and illustrating here too, but the website now has a updates section especially for that - all the new updates will be posted there.
